As part of infrastructure upgrades at Stansted Airport, we delivered the RIBA Stage 3/4 design for a new carriageway forecourt serving a vehicle barrier access facility. The pavement design was carefully developed to tie into the existing vehicle barrier lanes and Trief kerbing, ensuring smooth transitions and compliant geometry.
Surface water drainage was a key consideration, with finished levels designed to direct runoff efficiently toward a network of ACO slot drains. The drainage layout was coordinated with setting-out points to ensure precise installation. The slot drains were engineered to capture and convey surface runoff, supporting the operational requirements of the forecourt and protecting surrounding infrastructure.
