External Works & Drainage Design

Amazon Warehouse (RIBA Stage 4)

We delivered the RIBA Stage 4 external works and drainage design for a new Amazon warehouse, including a reinforced concrete service yard to support depot operations and heavy goods vehicle movements.

The external levels were carefully designed to provide effective surface water management, ensuring compliant falls and controlled runoff. The stormwater drainage system incorporated multidrains, a large-diameter carrier pipework network, and a fuel interceptor, discharging into an online attenuation crate system before connecting to the public sewer at a pre-agreed discharge rate.

A rising main and pumping station were also designed to convey foul wastewater from the facility to the adopted sewer network. Additional design elements included kerbing layouts for the car park and a concrete slab design using appropriate expansion, contraction, and isolation joints to suit the operational and structural requirements of the site.
